Super smart mathematicians

This week at nursery we were super mathematicians! We predicted which cars we thought would go the fastest, the bigger ones or the smaller ones. We then measured the distance our cars went using the metre sticks and our number lines! We used the number line to go back and check we were right like scientists do!

We also really enjoyed mark making, there's just something about big pieces of paper on the floor that we love! We told all of our teachers such wonderful stories with such wonderful pictures to match! From our stories we decided to turn our role play into an ice cream/ birthday shop! We've made a start on posters and prices and also a must have birthday cake. I wonder what brilliant ideas you all will come up with over the weekend for next week!?

We can't wait to get back to our learning on Monday I wonder what our super smart brains will teach Miss brown, George and Dawn next week!?

Independent learners!

This week in nursery we have been learning so much! We were so inspired by the mixing bowls and recipe instructions in the role play that we decided we wanted to make our own cookies! We gathered some ingredients that we thought we would need and then used Miss Browns iPad to check that we had everything and follow some instructions. We were so good at measuring out our ingredients really carefully to make sure we had just the right amount.

We also enjoyed learning about the different tools we could used to make marks with, we used rolling pins, sponges, brushes, cotton buds and many more! We explored how the colour looked and how the tools worked on different surfaces, our favourite was the bubble wrap and listening to the pops!

Some of us showed our amazing reading skills this week and built up the confidence to read Miss Brown a whole book! We also did lots of clever story telling and made marks in our jotters to represent our words, all of our teachers then helped us to write our story down and showed us how our words could be made into stories, amazing!

We all hope everyone has a fantastic half term and can't wait to get started again after the holidays! Have a lovely week, keep us updated on tapestry to let us know what you are all getting up to ready to share with all of our friends when we return!

Careful designers

This week in nursery we enjoyed designing and creating our own dens! We located various resources and used them working together as a team to build amazing dens! We acted out our own different stories using the den as our homes, fire station and even a hairdressers. We also enjoyed creating our own obstacle courses using our clipboards to first think of ways we could arrange it before creating it.

We also explored the giant muddy puddle in our garden, we had lots of rain this week which was great for making soup with! We located jugs and shared the water we found out so that everyone could make their own recipe in the mud kitchen. We also had a visitor this week, a caterpillar that one of us found at home, we asked lots of questions and discovered they like to eat leaves and apples! We all thought it was too cold for him outside so one of us suggested putting him by the window with it open a little bit for some air!
